Glow and Decay came together during my last year of photography school. As an alumni of the theater program at Trinity High School, I knew I wanted to create something special for my school to be proud of. What was supposed to be a five minute film turned into a much bigger project. The story of Radium Girls captivated me from the start, and the beauty of live theatre led me to dive much deeper into this project than I ever could have anticipated. This video is both a history lesson and a love letter to my theatre family whom I will never forget.
The Bog Garden is located in Greensboro, North Carolina and it is a heavy attraction in the area for both locals and tourists. The Garden is home to many wildlife creatures such as ducks, birds, snakes, and owls. This video is a documentation of the area, narrated by me, as I encounter both the beauty of nature and its relationship with the people who experience it.
I wanted to challenge myself by interacting with those who visit the place, and not just the animals who live there. This project is very personal to me because I had to get out of my comfort zone and meet new people.
This video was filmed and edited in October of 2025 for a school assignment. I am still proud of this creation as it is a testament to my desire to connect with others. Although I have a quiet demeanor, I enjoy being in the company of people. My camera is not only a tool to capture images, but a bridge that crosses into the lives of others. My goal with this video was to utilize that bridge with intention and bravery.
My final video project from the first year of my photography schooling features my old high school theater teacher, Mr. Michael Johnson. Mr. Johnson, a recent retiree with a lot of newly added free time, works on construction projects on the side. His expertise from building stage sets for school productions has led him down the path of owning his own business, Build With Michael.
This video covers the daily tasks of his work schedule. Whether building for a client or sprucing up his home, Mr. Johnson likes to keep busy. He may be retired from teaching, but he enjoys remaining productive. Not only does this video explore his business endeavors, but it also navigates through his own personal journey in his retirement.
I enjoyed filming and putting together this video because of my relationship with Mr. Johnson. Being in high school with him as my teacher took me through many creative directions. Now as a college student, Mr. Johnson inspires me by his adaptability in the face of a significant life change. Although it was at first strange seeing him outside of the classroom, I was quickly assured by his humorous personality that he was still the same person I knew before. This video is not only an advertisement to his business, but proof that retirement can be the start to a new adventure.
Kiefer Lindsay is a rising high school senior, but instead of taking a summer break, he begins preparing for the upcoming track season. This video explores Kiefer's ambitions as he trains for his last season of high school track. Beating his competitors as well as his previous records are the two goals he has for the upcoming year. Starting early before classes have even begun is how Kiefer intends to begin the season with a strong body and mindset.
Upon finishing his senior year, Kiefer broke the school record for indoor men's track for the 100m dash. The hard work he put into training paid off in the end, even if it meant sacrificing some of his personal time during the summer months.
